Choosing the right policy
When purchasing travel insurance there are certain ‘must haves’ to be sure you are receiving a level of travel cover – not merely low cost insurance – that won’t leave you financially struggling or left enduring sub-standard health or hospital treatment.
What are the must haves for snow holidays?
- Unlimited cover for overseas evacuation and emergency medical assistance and an alignment with a global specialist organisation.
- Cover for snow skiing piste closure for each day that the skiing facilities at the resort you have pre-booked for your trip commenced and that you are staying is, is totally closed due to adverse ski conditions.
- Cover for snow skiing benefits – ski equipment hire, lift passes and ski-school costs, and cannot recover, if during your trip you are prevented from skiing for more than 24 hours following your suddent illness or serious injury sustained during your trip.
- Cover for snow skiing equipment replacement – pay for the hire of alternative ski equipment following accidental loss, theft or breakage of ski equipment and for which a claim has been accepted by your insurer. Payment if you are temporarily deprived of your ski equipment for a period of more than 24 hours from the scheduled time of arrival at the snow due to delay or misdirection of your ski equipment.
Also make sure that the underwriter is strong and has a global presence, and that their special assistance is available 24/7 in the case of an emergency.
