FIVE WEEKS

Brazil's World Heritage sites offer visitors a glimpse of the astounding natural and cultural diversity of Brazil.

Start your journey in vibrant Salvador. Next head to Olinda, the seat of Afro-Brazilian culture in the Northeast. The island of Fernando de Noronha is next, with its beautiful reefs and abundant wildlife. On the mainland, go to Parque Nacional da Serra da Capivara, site of prehistoric rock paintings. The historic town of Sao Luis is next, followed by a flight out to Manaus, from where you can visit the lush forest found in Parque Nacional do Jau.

After the jungle, Brasilia will seem startling. From there visit the Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros, an excellent hiking area. East of the capital is Goias Velho, another colonial gem, and Parque Nacional das Emas, home to much wildlife.

Some of the world's best wildlife watching awaits visitors to the Pantanal. From there, head south to the Iguacu Falls. The final stop is in Minas Gerais, among the colonial churches of Ouro Preto and Diamantina, as well as the splendid Basilica do Senhor Bom Jesus de Matosinhos in Congonhas.
